About BoardGamesReviewed
Everything about every tabletop game, in one place: designers, mechanics, awards, rules and reviews.
What this site is
BoardGamesReviewed is a catalog of board games, card games, wargames and tabletop RPGs. Each game has its own page with the facts that matter (players, playtime, year, designers, publishers), the mechanics and categories it uses, the awards it has won, and ratings from the community. You can also follow upcoming releases and compare games side by side.
How ratings work
Ratings come from registered members, not from us. Members score a game on a few criteria (such as fun, story, replayability and components) and can optionally say how complex it feels and how many players it is best with. We show only the averages, and only once a game has enough ratings for them to mean something; individual ratings are never shown publicly. There is no written-review text, so nothing here is sponsored copy.
Where the data comes from
- Wikidata. We discover candidate games from Wikidata, whose data is released under the CC0 public-domain dedication. Names, years, player counts, playtimes and identifiers are taken from there. We don't copy Wikipedia article text.
- Human curation. Nothing discovered automatically is published as-is: an editor reviews each candidate, corrects the facts and approves it. Members can also suggest games we are missing, filling in the details by hand; editors check every link and name they submit, and nothing they enter is published until an editor approves it.
- Publisher sites and Wikipedia. Editors consult publishers' websites and Wikipedia as references when checking a game's facts, and we link to them where useful. We do not copy their descriptions or text.
- Cover images. Box art is linked from publishers' websites or Wikipedia rather than hosted by us. Covers remain the property of their respective publishers and artists.
